These Five Women

A poem written entirely by using quotes from the Google Search Engine.

The island is so tiny and isolated that no one lives there except five old women – odd but friendly women.

Every afternoon when the sun shines, four or five old women gather on a bench.

Phoebe

Phoebe is the cutest. I love her. She is my favorite one from all of them.

Yet Phoebe is an intriguing target of scientific investigation.

"The dark and odd-shaped Phoebe may be a piece of the building blocks from which some of the planets formed," said Dr. Bonnie Buratti.

Effie

Effie is salt-of-the-earth kind of people.

Effie has several jobs. She is the postwoman for the island, runs a self-catering house, and has her own flock of sheep.

Effie has major responsibilities.

Unfortunately Effie has become delusional.

Poor Effie is so confused.

It's so strange how Effie has become almost gone in some ways.

Miriam

Miriam is wired differently from the rest of us.

Miriam is so winningly philanthropic, without an ax to grind or argument to prove.

Miriam is constantly bringing me dandelions to blow on.

Miriam can tell I'm going to lead a good life.

Miriam is the shizzzzz-nik!

Martha

Martha is smart.

Martha is beautiful.

Martha is organized.

In short, Martha is perfect.

(How you perceive Martha is a road map to your own cultural prejudices).

Harriet

At 171 years of age, Harriet is the oldest known living creature on earth.

Harriet is a virgin at a time when "sleeping around" is the norm.

Harriet is slightly strange, bird-like, crazy about animals, overly fussy about one food touching another and spends much time prancing around and talking gibberish.

Harriet will never change.

There is no doubt that these five women greatly contributed to making 1997 the "Year of the Woman".

This is WILD! Using quotes from Google's Search Engine is an incredible idea whose earliest ancestor, I think, may have been the cut-and-pasted ransom note. d~ you're a genius.

I wish I could say the Google quote poems started with me, but they didn't. I have done some tweaking, though, to make it more my style.

Honestly, though, it really is just elaborate cut-and-paste.
